It’s a new, intimate and exciting live music and theatre festival in August 2021. It will, of course , have to be presented and produced a little differently and mindful of existing UK and Welsh Government guidelines. It will prove that we can have live entertainment and be responsible and considerate to our community at the same time. All ticket monies will be refunded if Government guidelines alter and the event is cancelled or not rescheduled. Dress according to the weather as the “show must go on”.

Now rescheduled From March to August 2021, we are located on the Castle Lawn within the iconic walls of Cardiff Castle in the heart of the City of Cardiff and the location for previous iconic live music events and festivals.

You can purchase tickets for seats which will be configured on the lawn in 6s, 4s 3sand 2s and will be socially distanced 2m from adjoining parties. The seats will have a minimum of 2metres between each group both in front and behind with extra wide aisles to ensure 2m distances are maintained at all times. We are following the Welsh Government 2m rule and on line purchases will ensure track and trace can be implemented if necessary . Being outdoors and 2m from the nearest group and with other safety measures employed we believe the event to be exemplar in its safety protocols.

A managed one way pedestrian system will apply. We will be asking you to move about as little as possible and be considerate to others. Toilets and walkways will be stewarded and gels and sanitisers will of course be provided but we ask you to behave responsibly and not move around without a valid reason and stay in your seated areas. Toilets will be managed and fully sanitised after each show and you will be asked to clean your hands before and after a visit. Guidelines might change but we are being extra careful.

Firstly , we have chosen to limit the numbers so there will be a feeling of space. You will not feel crowded but the set up will ensure your full enjoyment of the shows. All guests are asked to be sensible and considerate and not to enter the Castle if you or any members of your groups are displaying any symptoms. The Castle is already a well established safe site and you will be sat in your group outdoors and sat more than 2m from the next group. We may do temperature checks on entry and also fill and empty the performance area in a managed way to minimise gatherings and ask for you cooperation. We will undertake the safety measures required and in place at the time of the event which as we all now can be fluid. Limited numbers will continue to be applied.

We have tried to cover all tastes and to keep the costs affordable with tickets from just £15 plus booking fees. Sleeping Beauty at the Castle has moved to Spring 2022 and if you have bought tickets for this they will be moved or refunded to you. We have been fortunate to team up with Black Rat Productions who will now present Pinochio The Family Musical during the day time and the evening schedules have been tweaked and now include the renowned Magic of Motown show. Our Castle residence also included the all Wales musical celebration Bring Them Home and an evening with Only Men Aloud. We also are delighted to showcase local Electric Blues Band Blue Evolution. We are not expecting to be allowed under Covid restrictions more than a few hundred guests per performance despite being outdoors, and with a limited season we expect demand for all performances to be very high.

Absolutely. All tickets will be e tickets and printed at home or stored on your phone. To minimise social contact no shows will have intervals and you should purchase food and drink and take it to your seats before the show begins, so arrive early, enjoy the surroundings and keep to your social group.

The Castle is located in Cardiff City Centre with car parking, and public transport easily accessible, just be responsible and follow the guidelines. Depending on guidelines in place at the time we may chose to fill and empty the seated areas a row at a time but please listen to the stewards employed on the day. You will be asked to arrive a minimum of 30 minutes before the performance time on your tickets. No performances are scheduled to finish later than 10pm and all Pinochio performances will be in the day time during the school holidays.

We will be on the flat castle lawn so easy wheelchair access and general access to all seats will be available. There will be no space to store buggies. Babes in arms are free with some concessions available.

Take Away food and drink will be available before the show and will be allowed at your seats. There will be no intervals so come early and soak up the atmosphere. You will not be allowed to bring your own food or drink into the Castle grounds.

We are using local providers where possible to fully deliver the shows. We will be employing local artistes, stage crew, security personnel, catering and freelance staff. It is one of our main drivers for putting on the event to start the sector back up again in a safe and secure way.

Its Wales, in a Castle, in August, it will be lovely. The stage is fully covered and the castle is fairly well protected but dress accordingly. If the event has to be cancelled because of extreme weather conditions or a change in Government guidelines, full refunds will be given from your point of purchase or tickets transferred to rescheduled dates.

Not unless you are the lead booker and tickets are for your family or bubble. We are keeping the event guidelines as simple and straight forward for everyone and would ask that you all arrive together in one group. This will help in complying with all the current guidelines in relation to track and trace and to ensure everyone’s safety. You should book your tickets in your family group as it reduces the amount of people movement and unnecessary interaction with site staff. Tickets will be contactless on mobile phones or available to print at home.

The lead times in organising an event of this nature make it impossible from a commercial perspective to wait until the rules change to go on sale. Ideally we would go on sale 8 to 10 months prior to the event. Commercial reality means we have to sell thousands of tickets over a number of performances, over a decent period of time to cover our costs and to pay suppliers and performers. We therefore need the longest lead time possible to ensure that this happens. We are monitoring Government guidelines on a day by day basis. Pilot events are planned in Wales in May and pilots in England are already being held with many thousand spectators. We are confident that an outdoor event such as this which is also socially distanced with limited numbers will be possible to present in August. With the additional measures we are putting in place we will meet protocols needed from a public health perspective and have every confidence that we will be enjoying live performance again in the Summer within the walls of Cardiff Castle.

The producers have over 40 years experience in delivering theatre and music productions, much of it outdoors and we want to offer the Welsh public a taste of what’s been missing in all of our lives for over a year. We want our land of song to sing again and hope that you can join us. Come and enjoy the Live Under the Stars experience at Cardiff Castle.
